Annabeth Leong - Writing in a Frenzy

Please welcome Annabeth Leong to celebrate the new Hot Pink line at Ellora's Cave!

Thank you so much for having me here today!

I write for lots of reasons. Sometimes, I want to consider a question or understand a situation or I've got a creative image that I can't get out of my head. I like for erotica to turn me (and my readers) on, but that's often a thing that happens along the way as I write, not the motivation in and of itself.

Enter Heated Leather Lover.

I knew Ellora's Cave was looking for f/f titles for its Hot Pink series, and I planned to write for it, but I thought I'd be using my normal procedure (which involves colored notecards, an outline, a technique I have for mapping plot threads, and lots of notations of "Hot Sex TBD"). A funny thing happened, though. Pretty much the moment I decided to write about a leather-clad butch, the book suddenly needed to get written now, now, now. It became something I snuck time with, stealing away from other projects to type frantically and feverishly.

Like a character in a blues song, it couldn't be quit. I'd put it down for a while to finish something else, but soon I'd be back, shocking myself when I read through the pages I'd already written.

When I started writing erotica, I wasn't so open about what turned me on or how much it did. Part of that was because I was scared. I was already learning to use naughty words with impunity, but it seemed far too much to reveal how I felt about them. I've got twinges of that now as I admit this. What if other people don't see this book in the pure, unadulterated, sex-crazed frenzy that I do?

The thing is that I believe there are lots of good reasons to write erotica, and the sheer, exhilarating heat of it is one of them. This is that book for me. If you're into leather, motorcycles, spanking, sexy butches, or stocking-clad femmes, this just might be that book for you as well.

Excerpt:

Tam rode faster than she should have, but it was hard to hold back with Yasmin’s soft warmth nestled against her. She sped out of town and onto the coastal highway, accelerating until the wind cooled her despite the heat Yasmin inspired.

Day began to transition to night. Sunlight slanted sideways, transforming the dull, flat landscape into something honey-dipped and full of possibility. Yasmin worked her delicate fingers under Tam’s leather jacket, then under her shirt, lightly stroking Tam’s stomach. Tam liked the way Yasmin felt but worried about her ability to operate the motorcycle under her influence. She laid a hand over Yasmin’s in warning and the exploring fingers stilled. They remained in place against Tam’s bare skin, though, impossible to ignore. Butterflies gathered in Tam’s stomach, on the other side of her skin from those delicious fingers.

Tam clenched her jaw, doing her best to stay cool. She steered the bike with familiar expertise, making it roar, then purr. She imagined doing the same to Yasmin, working the other woman’s clit with just such a knowing touch, drawing the right noises at the right time from those big, soft lips and making her back arch with pleasure. The bike’s seat vibrated under her crotch, steadily increasing her awareness of her arousal. She hoped it affected Yasmin in exactly the same way.

They rode farther south, ocean waves crashing against the beach to their left. Water gripped at land and flailed against it, making Tam think of tangled legs and pounding rhythms. She took a deep breath and pulled the bike over onto the shoulder.

“Why are we stopping?” Yasmin’s coy tone of voice told Tam she knew damn well.

Tam looked over her shoulder at her breathtaking companion, almost afraid to let her gaze land full-force on the other woman. “Where do you want to do this?” Desire almost choked off the words.

Yasmin responded with a blissful smile. “Anywhere.”

Blurb:

When Tam Bouie rides into town on her motorcycle, she finds the welcoming committee of her dreams. In a bar called Issues, the beautiful femme Yasmin Miller seems to have been waiting for a butch on a steel horse to sweep her off her feet.

Yasmin has a serious fetish for women in leather and isn’t afraid to go after what she wants—until she discovers that Tam isn’t just passing through. Convinced that their town is too small for the explosive love affair that threatens to ignite, and the possible fallout if it goes sour, Yasmin drops Tam as quickly as she picked her up.

Tam, however, doesn't give up easily, and Yasmin’s resolutions to stay away from her won’t mean a thing if she can’t resist the sexy butch’s heated leather love.

A Romantica® lesbian erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave, part of the Hot Pink series.

I have to admit, I've never read an f/f story, but Heated Leather Lover sounds sexy. :-) Good luck!
