Welcome to the New Year's Blog Hop!

Welcome to the New Year's blog hop! Make sure you comment below for your chance to win a $10 gift card to All Romance eBooks! Don't forget to visit the other bloggers today for a shot at their prizes!

The 1st Grand Prize will be a Kindle Fire
The 2nd Prize (to a second winner) will be an $80 Amazon GC

If I had to choose one New Year's memory, it would have to be the beginning of 2000. We spent most of 12/31/1999 at home in our apartment, watching the celebrations around the world. Actually, we watched and held our breath the whole time. If you were around, you remember the whole Y2K scare, and the possibility that computers globally would shut down, followed by mass hysteria, etc. Instead, we got to see a seamless transition into New Year's, and by midnight our time we were downtown watching the fireworks and sighing with relief.

So now it is 2012, and I'm staring down a list of resolutions. I didn't do very well last year, and if people are correct in theorizing that 2012 is it for us on this wildly spinning rock, I want to pull off some epic win here. I don't know how you are at resolutions, but I am about 50/50 - some I accomplish, the others are quickly forgotten. This time, I decided to aim low a bit and hedge my bets:

1) Lose all the weight I gained last year, after losing 40 pounds the year before. I'm all for recycling, but this is ridiculous.

2) Hike and camp more. I used to love camping when I was younger, and my daughter has taken to it as well. The goal this year is four outings, even if it's to the local KOA.

3) Write two full-length works. Winning NaNoWriMo in 2011 was a big boost for me. If I can write 50K in a month, I damn sure can double that at the very least this year.

4) Get to see that show on Broadway while Alan Rickman's still starring in it. I will crawl to New York if I have to.

5) Redesign the website. Yeah, yeah...

6) Be happier. This could actually happen if I get 1-5 done.

So meet me back here on 12/31 if the world hasn't ended and I'll tell you how I did. Good luck on the giveaway!

I'm old and I learned a long time ago to save my breath and not make unrealistic resolutions. I just always hope for the best and handle the worst when it's ugly head pops up.

I don't do the resolutions (I break them to easily). Instead I just set goals for myself. This year includes be healthier--eat better, exercise more, lose weight. Also, I want to be happier and work on my social anxieties so that I can hopefully go to a reader/writer conference in 2013.

I normally don't make resolutions. Why bother. Usually during the first week of the year they've all been broken anyway. I am hoping to read more this year though, but it's not a resolution. If I do it, I do it, if I don't, I don't. Thanks for the giveaway.

Y2K was the most memorable for me. I got to spend it with my husband, brothers, father and step mom. We went to a party for New Years eve and went to the Rose Parade for New Years Morning. We got to sit in the stands to watch the parade, got a continental breakfast before the parade, a hot brunch after the parade, and a souvenir of the occasion. It was the best time of all since my brother, father and step mom all lived in Texas and I live in Pasadena, CA. It was my first time going to the parade where I didn't have to camp on the street just to save a place to see the parade. Let me tell you, that's not something you want to do unless you are young. It gets way too cold for these old bones. LOL

Happy New Year and thanks for the chance to win such a great prize.

my main NYR is to quit smoking. i have already cut the amount from 1 1/2 packs a day to less than 1/2 a pack a day so now i just need to finish going the distance. it is a tough habit to break and i have been smoking for 30+ years. last year my mother got sick and has had lung problems since, her doctor told us that she needed to quit and we made a deal to do it together. it has been a slow go but we are getting there.
my next NYR is to improve myself as a writer and try to find a group to help with that.

i hope that all of you have a blessed and joyful New Year and may all of your dreams and wishes come true.
